No one does “sex” like Tom Ford. As he opened New York Fashion Week last night with his much anticipated Women’s Spring/Summer 2018 Collection at the Park Avenue Armory her proved he still has his finger on the fashion pulse, albeit a rather 90’s inspired pulse. The only challenge was deciding where to look- at the 90’s inspired collection worn by millennials or the GenX star studded front row.
Of course many of the fashion girls Mr. Ford hopes to be enticing weren’t around when he burst onto the scene as the creative director of Gucci in the nineties, so last nights show was at once nostalgic, ironic and fresh.
From the shoulder heavy one-button blazers power jackets to the sequin tees to the aerobic-instructor inspired leotards to the ruched net dresses and gowns, the collection was refreshingly low-brow and fun.
Over 800 guests included Julianne Moore, Kim Kardashian, Russell Westbrook, Liev Schreiber, Karlie Kloss, Hailey Baldwin, Ansel Elgort, Cindy Crawford and Helena Christensen attended the show. Immediately after the show the after party kicked off to celebrate the debut of TOM FORD’s newest Private Blend fragrance, “Fucking Fabulous.” Subtle? No. Effective? Perhaps…why mince words.
The fragrance will be available in stores beginning today, September 7th.
