Yes, it’s true…I am officially “up the duff”!

I am just thrilled to announce that my husband Siimon and I are expecting our second baby! Our SECOND BABY….wow, can’t believe they’re letting us do this again.

I feel so incredibly blessed (usually I avoid using #blessed, especially when describing a day by the pool in LA on Instagram) but it feels like the only appropriate word to use to describe this epic, extraordinary, magical, mad and glorious News!

Some privacy peleeeeze!

My belly is not wasting any time growing, neither are my breasts for that matter (they seem determined to win a role on Baywatch!)  In all seriousness (just kidding), I am loving watching nature take over and growing this little person.

Capri just turned four, so we feel the timing is perfect to relive those sleepless nights and to have a new little snugglet to cozy up to, one who still thinks we’re the coolest thing since fresh milk (Capri is already cooler than us!)

Capri has apparently also taken on the News very seriously, according to these alarming images captured by her Preschool teacher and soon to be shared on TMZ.

Apparently she’s carrying quite high…

As many of you know, I first started dating my hubby, Siimon, when I was just 17 years old (what were my parents thinking?!) Fortunately we had a few fun years apart to experience the world separately, whilst remaining best friends, before we got back together about 10 years ago and tie the proverbial knot 6 happy years ago. This is a long way of saying that we are as READY to be parents again as we will ever be (and that we know each other very well)…and are so excited about growing our brood.

P.S Capri looks exactly like Siimon (I was clearly just the incubator) so it will be fascinating to see how this little sproggin turns out. Either way we are elated! The Eisman genetics will have to express itself through overly expressive faces whilst dancing, goofy laughter and other distinguishing maneuvers.

How Far Along?

I’m just over 5 months (which means more than halfway there!) and am so excited to finally share this news with you guys! The first few months were extremely punishing due to that nasty Hyperemesis gravidarum, the same form of extreme morning sickness Kate Middleton suffers from. I am still rather peeved that of all the things I could have in common with the stylish Princess, that this is our similarly. Where is my palace and bespoke McQueen wardrobe, for example?? However, at about 18 weeks I turned the corner and suddenly wasn’t nauseas 24/7. Hurray! So right now I’m enjoying being FULL of life and energy and working…and feeling full in general!

I wanted to share the News with you sooner, but we wanted to wait until I didn’t feel so sick (I wanted some “your glowing” comments instead of the “you have a greenish ghoulish glow” variety) and of course make sure we were in the clear health-wise.

Did any of you guess I was pregnant from my recent pics and TV segments?? There have been a lot of blazers for me of late! Buttons are almost popping.

How did we find out?!

It wasn’t as romanic as I might have hoped. After Siimon, Capri and I had attended a kids birthday party (that’s basically our gig on the weekend these days) I stopped into Nordstrom to do a little post Beat Buds/ Face painting recovery retail therapy. Siimon had a work call so it was just Capri and I checking out when the woman behind the counter asked me matter of factly, “How far along are you?”

What? I wasn’t pregnant! RUDE! I immediately made a mental note not to wear that dress again.

“Oh, I’m not pregnant” I said smiling trying to make her feel better but kinda dying inside. I had unfortunately purchased way too many things so I was stuck at that counter for an uncomfortably long time as this lady tried to backtrack and I tried to make her feel better. You can imagine the scene. Awkward.

I came home and immediately told Siimon about what had happened. He said in his usual calm thoughtful lighthearted manner, “Kath, maybe you are pregnant?”. It hadn’t occurred to me that this crazy women suffering from a clear case of tourettes might actually be right. As soon as he’d uttered those words I sent him off to CVS pharmacy to buy some home pregnancy tests, pronto.

Cut to a not at all pregnant looking young lady (myself) emerged from the bathroom holding the little stick.

“I am!” I blurted out, stunned.  And just like that, it was game on!

The First 18 Weeks

After the immediate surprise Siimon and I were thrilled. The only problem was we’d just booked a trip to Europe as our last harrah before trying for baby No.2. I guess it would be a different kind of holiday.

The first week on the island of Capri (with Capri in tow) was magical. I couldn’t drink but I was full of energy and excitement (and gelato). I was even getting down on the dance floor and diving off the rocks into the cool Mediterranean sea in a bikini.

Once I hit about 7 weeks, the debilitating morning sickness reared it’s ugly green ghoulish head. Suddenly I found myself feeling terribly seas sick AND stuck on a very rough boat ride from Capri to Naples throwing up off the side of the boat wondering if I should just jump off and put an end to the misery. Next came Mykonos which was akin to being in your own private hell in the middle of paradise. I wasn’t sure if I had severe food poisoning or if it truly was morning sickness, but lets just say that I don’t think I’ll be eating taramasalata for a long while.

As many of you know I LOVE my work…in fact I see work as fun, so it was really hard for me to cancel so many shoots and meetings and basically do the bare minimum for a couple of months while I dealt with 24/7 yuk-ness . At 18 weeks and the very weekend of Capri’s 4th birthday (and a planned family trip to San Diego’s Safari Park with both my siblings and parents) the sea-sickness seas parted and the sun came out and suddenly I felt good again. I had survived it! Yay!

Where did we conceive?

How dare you ask such an invasive question! ha. Yep, it’s kind of a weird question because “conception” is the ultimate euphemism, right? The answer is in Australia!

The remarkable thing about both of my pregnancies is that each time we’ve conceived during trips back home in Australia! So both children will officially be “Made in Australia.” We’re very patriotic that way.

What Are We Having?

We are having….. a baby!! ha ha. We have found out the gender and will be revealing it soon! We can’t wait to share it with you. Will we be dressing a little boy or a little girl in Capri’s designer hand-me-downs? We don’t like wastage.

Thank you so much for reading! I can’t wait to fill you in on the whole journey. Make sure you leave comments below if you have any questions or recommendations!
