“It was definitely a night of undo’s, fabulous hairdos and very few “hair don’t”, said Corey Powell, the Hollywood colorist known as the #KingofBlonde responsible for Margot Robbie’s iconic icy blonde hair in Wolf of Wall Street, along with Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie and Lady Bird’s Kathryn Newton.
In a sea of black gowns, hair really took centre stage and had the ability to make or break an outfit. So who got it so right? Powell breaks down his six favorite hair moments from last night’s Golden Globes.
Her hair style was perfection with the dress, modern, retro with an edge. The hidden metallic element in the back worked perfectly with the futuristic, modernist Versace dress. At once hard and soft.
This was a very beautiful hair moment for Emma. The color was perfection and the undo was at once soft, sexy, elegant, so relaxed. It had a modernity to it because it lacked too much structure which kept the young actress looking youthful and fresh faced.
No one does a pixie cut like Michelle. She has the absolute best platinum blonde color that’s a cool icy shade that brightens her face and adds to her luminous glow and because her hair is so short there’s no damage so the hair shines and looks healthy, almost glassy.
It’s exciting seeing her style evolve through hair. She’s really hit her stride and has created a distinctive aesthetic that’s all her own- a hybrid of modern glamour (Faye Dunaway/ Bonnie and Clyde) meets Victoria secret. Genius.
It’s fun watching Kate style her incredibly short hair with the clever usage of accessories, she also lightened it which gave it a more feminine airy quality which worked well with her sheer barely there dress. On point.
Catherine Zeta Jones
Wowza, did she rock some big long hair! When we think of Catherine we think of a timeless, glamour movie star and she really brought it last night. The volume and length added so much drama and old world glamour to her intricate A-line dress. The gentle waves played off her emerald jewels for a look that was unashamedly sexy and dramatic.
